Beauty Community Tip: Beach Beauty Essentials

image
Summer is definitely here! If you want to make sure you look like a beach babe and not a sweaty mess, here are a few beauty must-haves to ensure you are summer sexy all season long:

Cream Eye Shadow
In this hot (humid) weather, make sure you apply a shadow that stays put longer and doesn’t disappear when you start breaking a sweat. I swear by cream eye shadows, and we have some great options in the GC line that are perfect for this summer (think shades of vibrant aquas and greens). I really love our GC Creamy Eye Shadow in Canopy (an intense shimmering aqua) or in Overcast (a soft Icy Mint Green w/Gold Overlay).

Foundation with SPF
Even if you have naturally tan skin and hardly ever burn, don’t think you can get away with a foundation without an SPF. The sun’s rays are hottest in the summer so if you’re not careful, it will wreak wrinkle damage. Our GC Perfect Finish Liquid Foundation has an SPF 15. This ultimate, water-based liquid foundation is oil-free, contains soft focus powders that make the skin look and feel natural and flawless, and potent anti-oxidants Vitamins A, C, & E help protect skin from free radicals and other environmental damage. It provides a light to medium coverage and is recommended for all skin types to maintain that youthful glow.

Bronzer
Don’t worry if the winter has made you pale as a ghost. It’s easy to fake a glowing, tan complexion if you use a good bronzer. Plus, it also helps blot excess oil or sweat, so points for double-duty! The GC Swirls of Color palettes help brighten the face with swirls of shimmering color for an instant glow! Brush silky powder on cheekbones, bridge of nose, forehead, and chin and look like you’ve been healthily taking in those rays!

Waterproof Eyeliner
If you can’t stand going to the beach or pool without having your eyes done, opt for liquid. That way, you’ll be ensured that it won't budge and melt down your face. The GC Waterproof Automatic Eye liners have a special anti-oxidant enriched formula. Line and define beautifully shaped eyes using the smooth glide on color tip with attached sponge for no mess blending.

Hair Saver
A hair masque is a MUST if winter weather did a number on your strands. Also, sun can dry out your ends, fry your hair, give you split ends, or fade your hair color if you’re constantly in the pool or ocean. To make sure this doesn’t happen to me, I use the HBL Hair Masque faithfully. It easily hydrates and conditions my hair so I have sexy beach waves. With a pH 3.5-4.5, it intensely smoothes, conditions and protects even the most challenging hair without weighing it down or leaving a greasy feeling. It’s a literal summer hair saver!

Now that you’ve got your beach beauty essentials, let’s go to the beach!

Beauty Community Tip: Summer Essentials

image
I am so happy that temps are getting warmer. I’m so ready for Spring and Spring fashion! If you haven’t heard anything about this season’s “in” colors, be prepared to be playful! The hot colors this season are punchy and pretty. Think greens in all shades, Nectarine, Violet, Lemon Zest, and Monaco Blue! I am ready to transition my wardrobe.

Here’s what I’ve spotted are the Spring fashion trends:

Bermuda Shorts
Cool girl shorts were all over the runways and it’s perfect for us girls that don’t want to wear those really short-shorts (ahem, practically butt-baring). This is the more sophisticated and chic version in all the fun colors and I’m all over it!

Stripes
Stripe overload! Seriously, there were so many stripes on the runways. You can’t help sport a classic, nautical look with all the different apparel options: tees, sweaters, bikinis, pants, even formal dresses! It makes you want to go sailing!

Peek-A-Boo
I’ve read that it could be due to the “Fifty Shades of Gray” phenomenon, but peek-a-boo outfits, and S&M-detailed dresses were quite abundant on the runways, so expect it to be the look on your spring and summer nights out. It will definitely be easy to be sexy with midriff-baring options and leather details.

Statement Sunglasses
In the OC, statement sunglasses are always in… no matter what the season! For this Spring, find some specs that are louder and more fabulous than you normally wear!

Short Suits
It’s super easy to be a businesswoman that’s serious with work, yet trendy with clothes with all the amazing short suit options! I’m really digging this trend – I love the look - so tailored yet casual! It’s the perfect outfit for all my meetings running the GC Enterprise!

What are some trends you will try this season?

Beauty Community Tip: Who Says Smokey Eyes are All About Black?

image
We all know about the sultry appeal of smokey eyes. No doubt about it, smokey eye makeup will get you noticed - your eyes just pop and are incredibly alluring. Who doesn’t want that?

In the past, most people have associated smokey eyes with black or charcoal gray eyeshadows. But so many makeup artists aren’t using just black anymore. I’ve seen some gorgeous eyes done with deep plums, chocolate browns, dark emerald greens, even pink and navy blues and they all still sport the same smoldering allure.

I really love the look, but I usually reserve it for evening or fancy occasions because it can be too strong for the daytime. So, if you’re looking to switch it up a bit and sport a chic and modern alternative to the smokey eye, I say, try it!

Here are a few fun smokey eye looks I’ve recently spotted on Pinterest:
- Pink smokey eyes
- Gray and purple smokey eyes
- Metallic silver smokey eyes

Beauty Community Tip of the Week: Punches of Coral for Spring

image
I spotted this ensemble on Pinterest and I really love the bright colors! The look was suggested as a great wedding reception outfit (“you've gotta bring a little demure to the dressing table, without looking totally prissy at the reception”), but I think the attire is just perfect for spring! With the fun color combo highlighting punches of coral amidst a sea of baby blue, plus finished off with fab skyscraper platforms, it totally gives me spring fever! Love it with the essie nail polish and everything, so fun and playful!
