Beauty Community Tip:

image
I am so happy that temps are getting warmer. I’m so ready for Spring and Spring fashion! If you haven’t heard anything about this season’s “in” colors, be prepared to be playful! The hot colors this season are punchy and pretty. Think greens in all shades, Nectarine, Violet, Lemon Zest, and Monaco Blue! I am ready to transition my wardrobe.

Here’s what I’ve spotted are the Spring fashion trends:

Bermuda Shorts
Cool girl shorts were all over the runways and it’s perfect for us girls that don’t want to wear those really short-shorts (ahem, practically butt-baring). This is the more sophisticated and chic version in all the fun colors and I’m all over it!

Stripes
Stripe overload! Seriously, there were so many stripes on the runways. You can’t help sport a classic, nautical look with all the different apparel options: tees, sweaters, bikinis, pants, even formal dresses! It makes you want to go sailing!

Peek-A-Boo
I’ve read that it could be due to the “Fifty Shades of Gray” phenomenon, but peek-a-boo outfits, and S&M-detailed dresses were quite abundant on the runways, so expect it to be the look on your spring and summer nights out. It will definitely be easy to be sexy with midriff-baring options and leather details.

Statement Sunglasses
In the OC, statement sunglasses are always in… no matter what the season! For this Spring, find some specs that are louder and more fabulous than you normally wear!

Short Suits
It’s super easy to be a businesswoman that’s serious with work, yet trendy with clothes with all the amazing short suit options! I’m really digging this trend – I love the look - so tailored yet casual! It’s the perfect outfit for all my meetings running the GC Enterprise!

What are some trends you will try this season?

Beauty Community Tip: Who Says Smokey Eyes are All About Black?

image
We all know about the sultry appeal of smokey eyes. No doubt about it, smokey eye makeup will get you noticed - your eyes just pop and are incredibly alluring. Who doesn’t want that?

In the past, most people have associated smokey eyes with black or charcoal gray eyeshadows. But so many makeup artists aren’t using just black anymore. I’ve seen some gorgeous eyes done with deep plums, chocolate browns, dark emerald greens, even pink and navy blues and they all still sport the same smoldering allure.

I really love the look, but I usually reserve it for evening or fancy occasions because it can be too strong for the daytime. So, if you’re looking to switch it up a bit and sport a chic and modern alternative to the smokey eye, I say, try it!

Here are a few fun smokey eye looks I’ve recently spotted on Pinterest:
- Pink smokey eyes
- Gray and purple smokey eyes
- Metallic silver smokey eyes

Beauty Community Tip of the Week: Punches of Coral for Spring

image
I spotted this ensemble on Pinterest and I really love the bright colors! The look was suggested as a great wedding reception outfit (“you've gotta bring a little demure to the dressing table, without looking totally prissy at the reception”), but I think the attire is just perfect for spring! With the fun color combo highlighting punches of coral amidst a sea of baby blue, plus finished off with fab skyscraper platforms, it totally gives me spring fever! Love it with the essie nail polish and everything, so fun and playful!

Beauty Community: Fall 2012 Fashion Trends

image
As many of you know, I’m currently in New York City for Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week and I’m super excited about showing the new Gretchen Christine Pink and 2013 collection tonight! Thanks again to Style 360 in Collaboration with Elle Magazine for the support. It’s so great to be a part of such a huge and relevant week in Fashion.

So, in honor of being at New York Fashion Week, here are five great new trends I’ve spotted for this Fall.

Shine
This season, don’t be afraid to shine, daytime and night. I love this trend – it’s so bold! From glittery slippers from Enzo Angiolini to sparkly clutches from Judith Lieber, to huge crystal necklaces that will make you stand out, you’ll find plenty of fun and sophisticated apparel and accessories with shimmer and glimmer.

Lace
The lace look is big this season, and you’ll see plenty of clothes with the nod to retro femininity. It’s so elegant and sophisticated, and you can find a lot of lace pieces from the designers, including a Valentino lace and cashmere scarf, as well as pretty dresses from Badgley Mischka and Collette Dinnigan.

Denim Jackets
It’s time to dust off your jean jacket! Celebs and trendsetters like Cameron Diaz, Chloë Sevigny, Michelle Williams, and even Pippa Middleton have been spotted layering their denim jackets over feminine looks for an edgy spin.

Leggings
Inspired by the rock ‘n roll trend that were seen on the runways at Chloe, Beckham, and Cavalli, one of the biggest Fall/Winter 2012 trends will be “leather leggings.” In fact, it’s pretty much a staple for the Fall wardrobe. In addition to leather, I’ve spotted a huge selection of printed leggings, including python and other big prints. Hot!

Leather
Last but not least, the leather jacket will also be one of your signature pieces this autumn. Yes, traditional black is a mainstay, but you may want to invest in a colored leather jacket. Perfect for a night out, or even to toss around on a cool day, a biker jacket in a hot hue has a really edgy appeal.

What are you favorite trends for this season?

Beauty Community: A Natural Make-Up Look

image
It’s fun to get glammed up and photo “ready,” but since I feel like I’m always either at an event or shooting for the show, I cherish those days when I can be less dramatic and not in full-on makeup. Plus, I love a clean, fresh look – there’s something to be said about a natural beauty!

So, here’s how I try to get a natural look:

First, I apply concealer on any spots or if I have dark undereye circles. Remember, it’s important to make sure your concealer is a tone that matches your skin color or is a shade lighter.

Next, I use a moisturizing foundation that blends in well with my skin tone. I find a tinted moisturizer is best since it provides lighter coverage and doesn’t apply too heavily so your face looks “caked-on.”
Third, applying powder helps reduce shine. It’s only necessary to apply a small amount (usually on the T-zone). I think my GC Loose Micro-Fine powders are the perfect tool to add a radiant glow to your skin, and diffuse fine lines and wrinkles!

Blush is a great tool to give you a healthy glow. Obviously, don’t use too much – you don’t want to look like a clown. I apply just enough color, usually in a warm pink or peachy tone, to give me a fresh look.

For eye shadow, I like to stick to light browns and pinks to achieve a subtle look. Once you start adding vibrant blues and greens, it stops looking natural.

Finally, it’s best to keep lips natural with a tinted lip gloss or lip balm. I think the GC Glossy Lips in “Perfect Fit” or “Newport” are really natural shades.
